New router in the box? I install it, set it up and connect every device. I also fix dead spots and dropouts.
Wi-Fi problems are some of the most common jobs people bring me. The signal drops out in the bedroom, the internet works on the laptop but not the TV, video calls freeze at the same time every evening, or a new router arrived in the post and nobody has set it up yet. These problems are frustrating because they come and go, which makes them hard to pin down on your own.
I diagnose the actual cause before changing anything. A dropout can come from where the router sits, from interference, from an old device, or from the connection coming into the house. Buying new hardware does not always fix it, so I check first and only suggest equipment if it will actually help. Once the network is sorted, I make sure every device in the house is properly connected, not just the one that was playing up.
I also set up smart home devices, such as smart cameras, video doorbells, smart locks and smart lighting. These rely on a solid network, so they fit naturally alongside Wi-Fi work. I connect them properly to your network and your phone so they are simple to use day to day.
When I finish, I explain what was wrong and what I changed, in plain language. I can write down your network name and password and show you how to add a new device yourself. For older users I take extra time and go step by step, with no rushing.
Network problems are usually best sorted in person, so I do home visits by appointment in Christchurch and across Canterbury. Some router and device settings can also be checked with remote help. Comfortable across Windows, macOS and Linux, I can help with most of the devices in a typical home. Send a message or start a chat with a short description of the problem and your suburb.
